In Swedish adjectives are inflected according to their definition, number and gender. The neutral gender (neutrum) is usually expressed by the addition of the letter 't' to the end of the adjective. A special spelling/phonetic rule, called assimilation, says that if the adjective finishes by a 'd' then this 'd' is removed and replaced by a 't' before the addition of the neutral suffix 't'. (Note: simplified rule, inspired by: http://www.lysator.liu.se/language/Languages/Swedish/Grammar.html#adjectives) Here is the surface form of a word that requires the application of this rule: Surface form (utrum): strid Surface form (neutrum): stritt Question 1: Can you write the lexical forms of both "strid" and "stritt" as in chapter 3 of Jurafsky and Martins (2009)? Question 2: Here are the intermediate forms: strid^# strid^t# Can you write one transducer that makes the transition between these intermediate forms and those surface forms?
